:- 5.0 out of 5 stars from Doug D. -- Transformation Takes Time : As Joyce Meyer says in the the November 2nd Devotional in this book: "Transformation takes time and requires us to continue doing the right thing over and over until it becomes part of who we are." This daily devotional is one of those "right things." One of the things I respect about Joyce Meyer is her ability to give practical advice about how to understand and apply God's Word in our lives, to make positive transformations. This book is great example of that. It is about making God our habitual companion, rather than a once-in-a-while sounding-board. As she says in the January 28th Devotional: we should "Walk habitually with God." This not only gives us "strength," as the title suggests, but also keeps us from being deceived. As she says in the July 6th Devotional: "The more knowledgable we are of God's Word, the less likely he [devil] is to succeed in deceiving us." If the temptation of Jesus is any indication, Scripture taken out of context can be used deceptively (see Matthew 4:5-6 and Luke 4:9-11). I think we have all witnessed that. So, as she teaches, it is important that we actually take time to read it and understand it ourselves. Let's do just that. This devotional will help us have a great year. Thank you Joyce Meyer. It also serves as a reminder that God has us covered in HIS loving arms no matter what we face in our day. Joyce Meyer refers to the devotions as a little burst of energy, but I love to refer to them as whispers from a friend. Since I'm a rebel, I don't always read for the assigned day.
