I loved coming across this book, because I hadn't thought about trying recipes from other countries yet. Now we are definitely out of our "cookie-rut" of only trying different American (mostly chocolate chip honestly) cookie recipes. We have a lot to look forward to making, and several recipes lined up for the future that we are really excited about trying, the Greek ones for me especially. The book is compact and packed full of it seems like hundreds of recipes. They are really unique authentic recipes that mix together ingredients that I've not heard of mixing together before, especially in a cookie. And the author manages to keep these recipes simple and to the point! I have been appreciating the fact that it's an e-book as well, that way you can search within it easier through the computer, instead of rummaging through recipe papers! It really spoke to the xenophile in me. As someone who has a huge sweet tooth, a great love and respect for different cultures and their foods, and a desire to learn how to bake as much as I know how to cook, l feel like acquiring this book was like gifting myself with an early Christmas present. Those who know me well know how much my eyes sparkle when I see a recipe I know I will be able to knock out of the park. It is the same gleam in my eyes I have when I see a delicious chocolate chip cookie I have stumbled upon after a very long day. Let's just say that flipping through the pages of this book made my eyes more than gleam. They sparkled, twinkled, rolled a little bit in delight and with imagination. I cannot wait to start putting some of these recipes to use before the holidays. I was so delighted to see recipes from my culture and from various countries in Africa. The recipes were very specific -- many times down to how many seconds one needed to wait to flip a food item over or put it back into the oven. I loved how meticulously this was done. You could tell the author really enjoyed learning and acquiring this information. The philosophical advice at the end was such a nice and warm touch, as well. As someone with an insatiable curiosity, I really thoroughly enjoyed every second of reading this and hope you will, too! I love cookies and cultures! I actually didn't think that there was really anything "new under the sun" This book proved me wrong on both counts. I suppose I had been limited to familiar and American cookies all my life. I learned that there is truly a world of new ideas when it comes to baking cookies. I appreciated the detail that was provided. It will be needed since there are so many brand new recipes that I'll be trying. If you are someone who is seeking a new adventure in baking, this book is for you! It was a great experience and the recipes given in the book weren't complicated or difficult to understand, its really user-friendly i would say. I tried few recipe's for a start and it all came really nice as the compliments i got from my family amazed me. The uniqueness of this book is you will be able to find specific cookies which relate to 75 different countries.
